LED Art Wall

LED light strips, centrifuge tubes, White Oak custom panel

-installed in a medical office lobby, this installation is meant to be viewed as art. Having discovered a quantity of unused centrifuge tubes, myself and the creative team developed an idea that would reflect the medical testing of bloodwork. I constructed a prototype combining red and blue LED lights, which influenced the color palate. In the final design, The LED light strips are programmed to organically shift color from warm to cool tones, never repeating the same pattern. Constructed in our larger Portland shop, I assisted in the installation process.

UCLA Football Branding

Various prototypes using 3D printing, routed patterns and other methods

-throughout the entire branding process of the project, I constructed numerous prototypes that not only helped our team make the best design choices but assisted our client visually. I routed a number of bear head iterations, blocks that served as a foundation for the final install, plaques for donor information and laser etched wall patterns.

- I was given complete control of the final fabrication leather pieces and I installed them directly on location.

-this giant bear wall was constructed entirely from 3 1/2” white oak blocks along with laser etched donor information.

LA Biomed Lobby Wall Feature

Various prototypes of 3D printed concrete, walnut veneer, painted MDF

-the timeline of this projects was condensed and decisions had to be made quickly. The client relied heavily on 3D visual presentation over standard renderings. The miniature mock up impressed them instantly and was signed off for immediate installation. I also prototyped all branding for the project.

-as the project progresses the team is developing the café wall condition, experimenting with signage and environmental graphics.

Supercell

Various prototypes

-Supercell prides themselves on design and we wanted to convey this with everything we presented to them. Each object I made had a materiality that conveyed a specific story.

-this house design serves as a materials board. We wanted to tell a story of their office being a home. By creating a diorama like atmosphere, each material was placed where it would be in the actually space. Wood for the floor, glass, tile, wood for the walls. As you open the house up, you are discovering how you will enter the space.

-I built several miniatures during the course of the design process. They became very interactive and eventually the client loved them so much they ended up creating a viewing window in the lobby wall. Everyone who worked on the project was asked to add their signature.

Phoenix Suns Proposed Installation

LED lights, painted MDF panel, plex diffusing panel

-I developed an idea along with our graphic department to install a light wall in the game room. The client likes the look of neon and wanted something dynamic and electric. Our graphic team designed the logo, I conceived the light wall installation.

-my original idea was to create an infinity reflected light wall that consisted of three etched glass panels. The back and side panels would be mirrored and would create an allusion of multiple layers. This proved to be too costly. I modified my idea to have a single black mirror layer that was mounted to a diffusing panel. The top image is the final proposal. The wall installation will be 10x23’ in diameter.

Anniversary Gift

Etched plex panels, LED strips, maple slat base

-for the LA office’s 30th anniversary I was asked to make a gift that could be displayed on each partner’s desk. I wanted to create the idea of time moving into the present.

Arlington Sign Proposal

Plex, LED lights

-hired to design a 15 foot sign that mimicked the saw tooth façade condition, I worked directly with our design team to developed several ideas.

-one of the challenges was to engineer the letter to be viewed from multiple angles while having emphasis on the north approach, hence the angular design of the letter.
